The Arlington School is located on the McLean Hospital campus in Belmont, Massachusetts. We occupy an historic brick Victorian cottage, set apart from other buildings on the campus, with fireplaces in many of the classrooms. The grounds around the school contain some of the original Olmsted landscaping, including an orchard.
Our facilities include classrooms furnished with computers for student use; most classrooms also have SmartBoards. The school has a fully equipped science lab, a newly renovated library (2008) with desktop computers as well as laptop computers for students to check out, an expanded photography darkroom (2009) and a new art studio (2006) with ceramics capacity. In addition, we have clinical offices, a nurse’s office and a resource room.
Arlington School has a fitness room containing treadmills, elliptical machine, stationary bikes and audiovisual equipment. Physical education classes also have access to the McLean Hospital gym which houses a much larger state-of-the-art fitness center, with free weights, pool tables and a half-court basketball court. The drama department has access to a large auditorium for our theater productions.
