Extracurricular Activities

The school year is full of special events. In the fall, summer and spring, we customarily hold a field day, where the whole community joins in goofy competition. Lunchtime cookouts are held throughout the year as weather permits. We have a traditional Halloween party each fall, with costumes and games as well as a holiday party in December.  In lieu of a prom, Arlington School students have held a Boston Harbor cruise in the spring for the entire student body. Other excursions during the year have included field trips for touch football and Ultimate Frisbee.

Arlington School encourages students to initiate community service and to value diversity. Our Diversity Club meets at lunch once a week. There, students of varied backgrounds, orientations, and cultures share and relate to their common and diverse experiences.  SCOR (Student Community OutReach) is our student-run community service group. They present a number of service opportunities throughout the school year, and have held fundraisers for children’s toys at Christmas and volunteered at City Year-sponsored events in Boston. Also, the school has a grant that can pay a stipend to students who take on volunteer work-study positions in their community.

Arlington School students are eligible to participate in their public school extracurricular activities, athletics, social events and graduation ceremonies.
